Community Action Project Applications

OPPORTUNITY FOR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Leadership Windsor/Essex participants select a Community Action Project to complete from October to June in teams of four or five. We are offering non-profit organizations the opportunity to submit a project that would allow leadership participants to learn more about their organization,clients and their needs. Each participant will spend approximately 40 hours on a project.

As the key “hands on” aspect of the program the Community Action Projects are designed to:

Provide the participant with the opportunity to directly apply the knowledge and skills being developed during the program,
Develop the participant’s teamwork skills through a group learning experience,
Link the participant to the community, and
Address community issues while fostering collaboration within the community

Please note that fundraising events are not eligible for submission. Both event research and event design are eligible, however, project teams would not solicit funds on behalf of your organization.

Who we are

Leadership Windsor/Essex is one of 22 Leadership programs across Canada. Community Leadership Programs promote and encourage outstanding community leadership by developing the leadership capabilities of citizens who care about the community – those who understand its strengths and weaknesses and who are willing to make a personal investment to improve a community's quality of life.

Each year, community leaders from all sectors of Canadian society, reflecting the diverse nature of our communities, take part in community leadership training. The training is designed to expand the number of individuals who accept leadership roles in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations to train them to meet future challenges in our communities. Tailored for the busy, working professional, Community Leadership Programs also develop networks of people with a sense of community trusteeship who can work together to build and sustain community.
